Dear all,

On 14th and 15th of July, 4 of our cadet leaders, Sergeant (NPCC) Shankar, Sergeant (NPCC) Janson Teh, Sergeant (NPCC) Russell Koh and Sergeant (NPCC) Jared Tan of Montfort Secondary School participated as the flag raisers during the 2016 ASEAN University Games. Before the actual day itself, they had to attend trainings to execute the flag raising ceremony properly. Montfort NPCC Kayaking

Dear all,

On the 5th of September 2016, our secondary 2 and 3 cadets went for their kayaking course hosted by the Singapore Canoe Federation. The purpose of this course is to get the cadets to attain their kayak badge and also, experience for future kayak journeys. The course was 2 days long and it taught the cadets the basics of kayaking like parts of the kayaks and how to kayak.  The cadets were also required to pass a test on the last day to earn their certificate of achievement. The course itself was interesting with the instructors being very helpful and enthusiastic throughout the entire course. In the end, almost all our cadets passed the test and we are all very proud of those who attended this course! Lastly, we would like to thank the Singapore Canoe Federation for teaching and guiding our cadets to learn how to kayak.

PYA Project

Dear all,

On the 15th, 16th and 17th of November, our cadet leader trainees and cadet leaders took part in the PYA programme, assisted by Hougang NPC. Before the programme itself, our cadets had to go through a cycling course that will certify them to be a safe cyclist. During the actual event, some cadets will be cycling while others will be on foot. Police officers from Hougang NPC were there to guide and lead the cadets during the event. Some of the cadets were even lucky enough to view the police officers detain some residents around the neighbourhood for unlawful acts. In the end, our cadets get to experience a rare occasion where they get to patrol the neighbourhood with the police and learn how the Singapore Police Force operate in our everyday lives, keeping the country safe. Lastly, Montfort NPCC would like to thank the police officers of Hougang NPC for arranging and executing the programme.

Montfort NPCC annual unit camp 2016

Dear all,

On the 4th of November 2016, Montfort NPCC hosted our annual unit camp. It was a 2D1N camp and all our cadets were involved in it. This is the first time where our cadet leaders had to plan out the camp and although there were many bumps throughout the planning stages, they managed to prevail. Of course they couldn’t have done it without the CIs help. For the camp itself, there were many activities during that took place. The cadets practiced their drills and campcraft on the first day and games on the second day. We are sure that after this camp, our cadets have learnt many new values and formed stronger bonds between their squad especially the sec1 cadets.

SG Secure

Dear all,

On the 24th of September, 2 of our secondary 2 cadets participated in the SG Secure programme. Montfort NPCC are really proud of Lance Corporal (NPCC) Benedict Julian and Lance Corporal (NPCC) Arden Koh.  SG Secure was about highlighting the safety and security of Singapore and how to overcome any potential threats. Both our cadets had to explain what this project was about and how it will benefit Singapore. They even got to meet our prime minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong! Both of our cadets had a lot to prepare for the event itself and in the end, the event was a success! Montfort NPCC are proud of you guys!

“This event, the official launch of SG Secure was really eye opening and interesting. As a participant of this event, it’s not an everyday kind of thing that we are able to meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. It was a really rare opportunity not only for myself but for the school to be involved in such programme. The most significant part of this project was when I get to learn what it’s like being in such events and being able to explain to our prime minister what we have done for our part in SG Secure.” - Lance Corporal (NPCC) Arden Koh.

ATC STC Camp 2016

Dear all,

On the 19th of August Friday, our secondary 2 and 3 cadets took part in the ATC STC camp that happens annually. The camp happens at Pulau Ubin. During the camp itself, our cadets met up with other cadets from different schools. The cadets had to work together to overcome many different challenges that faced them. Some challenges for example were the rock climbing for the sec 2 cadets, the high rope challenge for the sec 3 cadets and many more. It was a tiring but eventful 3D2N camp and we are sure that our cadets came back from the camp with many new friendships formed and many memorable experiences to share.

“My experience in ATC camp was very enjoyable and fruitful.
I was able to interact and make many new friends from different schools in Area. I have also learnt may other things such as improving on my discipline and even learning many new songs. The activities provided was also exciting and I was able to experience rock climbing for the first time though I faced difficulties during the climb. I was able to learn the history of Pulau Ubin during the camp. We also had a campfire on the second day and I enjoyed singing together with everyone and watching the CLs perform their skits. Overall the camp was very exciting and different from what I imagined. I have learnt many things which I can apply in my daily life.”

.22 Shooting Competition

Dear all,

On the 6th of June, our cadet leaders participated in the annual shooting competition held at HQ. The cadet leaders had already experience shooting twice in their NPCC lives and this will their final time doing this. Our cadet leaders were very determined and enthusiastic about this event and hoped that they could bring back a prize for the shooting competition. After this event, our cadet leaders have taken back many memories and values learnt during the competition and we are sure the next batch of cadet leaders would do even better.
