Share-A-Textbook-Programme

Dear all,

During the December Holidays, our cadets took part in the annual Share-A-Textbook Programme 2015. They had been sorting books for distribution during the holidays. The event was held at Yio Chu Kang Secondary School. The cadets definitely had fun during the sorting and the distribution days. Moreover, they had also forged stronger bonds between their squad mates as well.

Community Safety and Security Programme/Police Youth Knowledge Course 2015

Dear all,

On 23 November 2015, Our unit attended the Community Safety and Security Programme as well as the Police Youth Ambassador courses. The cadets had gone around the neighbourhood to raise awareness about bicycle theft as well as promoting the use of U-Locks for securing bicycles. The cadets had definitely enjoyed the experience with interacting with the public and had also learned about the U-Locks themselves too. 

Lastly, we would like to thank the Police Officers from Hougang Neighbourhood Police Centre for arranging and executing the activity.

X-Challenge 2015

Dear all,

On 15 August  2015, our Secondary 2 and 3 cadets participated in the Inter-Unit X-Challenge competition 2015. They had went through many physically and mentally demanding trainings in order to prepare themselves for the illustrious competition. Overall it was a challenging and great learning experience for the cadets. At first, it was their first time experiencing a inter-unit competition and did not know what to expect, however they still performed at their best and  their hard work and efforts were not wasted. The Secondary 3 cadets who participated the previous year were able to guide their juniors well and could adapt quickly during the different stations and act accordingly.


'X Challenge is one of the most interesting and unforgettable experience of one's NPCC life. It basically contains four stations consisting of a quiz, treasure hunt, physical part, and pioneering. Luckily for me, I was fortunate enough to go for the X Challenge.
We had extra trainings every week, just for this event and they are mostly tougher than normal trainings. We had a treasure hunt in school and we practiced on lashings. On the day itself, although I was nervous, I was also excited for this event. When the X Challenge started, we ran to the various venues that we needed to go to complete the tasks. Overall, I think our team exhibited team spirit and resilience to get through the X Challenge. I think that this is something that all the juniors should experience as it may be a one in a lifetime chance.' - Lance Corporal (NPCC) Russell Koh

Adventure/Survival Training Camp 2015

From the 10th to the 12th of July, our Secondary 2 and 3 Cadets had attended their Adventure and Survival Training Camps. It was definitely a new experience for them as they attended their camp with Area 7 instead of Area 6. We are also proud to announce that Lance Corporal (NPCC) Fabrian had been awarded with the best camper award for the Adventure Training Camp. For The Survival Training Camp, Group 8 had won the best group award and Corporal (NPCC) Hon Hua was a member of the group. Lastly we would like to express our appreciation to the participants for participating actively in all the activities.

'ATC was a really fun and unforgettable experience. Many new friendships and bonds were formed. ATC was a test of our resilience. For example, when we got to Pulau Ubin by ferry, we had to walk all the way to the campsite while other schools took a van there. During our kayaking session, some of us were scared of water and some of us could not swim. However we managed to conquer kayaking with ease and it was really fun. We also had to get through low elements and one of them was rock climbing. It took us lots of great effort to get to the top of the wall but it was worth it. Also, when pitching the tents, we had to teach some of our group mates how to tie the correct knots and peg correctly. Some of us had blisters on our hands but with resilience and determination, we managed to pitch our tents and got through all the activities. I think that our juniors will have as much fun as we had during ATC.' - Squad Zeus (Cadet Leaders of 2016/2017)

'STC was definitely and eye opener for all of us. We forged many new friendships with cadets from a different area whom we have never seen before! Never had we expected this to be the biggest impact on us as cadets in NPCC. All of us were separated and all alone in our various groups. During the tent pitching, we faced many issues with the tentage material. Some cadets were also unsure of what to do . However we managed to bring them up to speed and got the job well done. During the team building activities, we had bonded together with our groups. Then there was the Intermediate Rope Course. It was definitely different from other rope courses as it contained unique safety features. Many of us had stumbled on the different courses but we managed to pull through. Lastly, there was the Survival Training. In this course, we learned how to start a fire with just twigs and dry leaves. Also, we learned how to build a shelter. This was definitely beneficial as it taught us how to brave the wild and survive. In our opinion, the campfire was the highlight of the whole camp as our groups had worked together to perform a cheer that had received loud applause from everyone else. Training on 3 July 2015

Training was conducted on 3 July. It was focused mainly on camp craft as the Secondary 2 Cadets' Adventure Training Camp was around the corner and they had to be exceptionally skilled in tent pitching in order to excel in their camp. The Secondary 1 Cadets were learning to master their eight basic knots in order to achieve their camp craft badge by the end of the year.

NPCC Annual Parade 2015

On 18 April 2015, Seven of our Secondary 2 and 3 cadets participated in the NPCC Annual Parade. Lance Corporal (NPCC) Pravind was the flag bearer for the Mass Flag 1 Contingent. Lance Corporal (NPCC) Andy and Corporal (NPCC) Suben were participants for Supporting Contingent 1 while Lance Corporal (NPCC) Qi Ming was a participant for Supporting Contingent 8. Together with Lance Corporal (NPCC) Shankar, Lance Corporal (NPCC) Fabrian and Lance Corporal (NPCC) Vignesh, the 7 of them participated actively in all trainings.

 "The parade was an amazing experience all together. I learnt many new drills from the trainings which were physically challenging. We had to endure while holding the flag pole. Furthermore, the trainers were very kind and helpful. They were also patient while teaching us the drills. I also made many new friends who were very encouraging. Despite the actual parade being very strenuous, I managed to give it my all and and endure till the end" - Lance Corporal (NPCC) Pravind.

It would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and if i were ever given a chance to go for the parade again, i would definitely say yes. Training on 17 April 2015

On 17 April, our new cadet leaders experienced their first official training. The Secondary 1 Cadets had a camp craft session which was focused on knots and lashings while the Secondary 2 Cadets'  session was focused on tent pitching. The Sec 1s then were taught how to prepare their NPCC full uniform. Afterwards, there was a combined physical training session. Both the Secondary 1 and 2 Cadets had an enjoyable time during the training.

Passing Out Parade

On 10 April 2015, the 2014/2015 batch of cadet leaders had their Passing Out Parade(POP) and it was the first Combined Uniform Group POP. Station Inspector (NPCC) Benjamin Lim was the parade commander for that evening.Both the Secondary Three and Four cadets put in a lot of effort in preparing for this parade. We would like to thank all participants and alumni members for their commitment and contribution in making the parade a huge success.

Unit Training 2015 (27 January)

Today's training was focusing more on fitness and campcraft. For physical training , the Secondary 1 - 3 did their standard 3BX and moved on to stamina training. They ran a total of 2km around the school vicinity. Afterwards, the JCLs(Secondary 3) proceeded on to tent pitching. The Secondary 1 & 2 did their 8 basic knots. 

UTP 2014

We were honored to be able to participate in this meaningful event. This purpose of the event was to help sort out the donated books, and help distribute them out. The sessions that we went were also part of helping our unit to bond together.

                           

CCA Orientation 2015

During CCA orientation, we performed an eye-catching auto-berhenti and amazing rifle drills. We are glad that we had the Hougang NPC to send us a fast response car and for supporting us in this phenomenal day.
